September 2008 Newsletter
As Summer 2008 winds down, we begin to get ready for Fall Foliage Season in the Blue Ridge Mountains. There are many activities planned in Nelson County and Wintergreen Resort. Peak Fall foliage is predicted to be in late October through November 10th. More details will be in my October Newsletter, but now is the time to book reservations for the season.
Announcements and Updates
Good News! Blue Ridge Brewery has brought back its very popular pizza selection for Fridays. (12PM-9PM) So, stop by the micro brewery on Fridays this Fall and enjoy their awesome pizza and some brew.
Wintergreen Winery has announced the release of some new wines. The list includes 2006 Black Rock Red Reserve, 2007 Raven’s Roost Cabernet Franc, 2007 Brent’s Mountain Merlot and the 2007 Black Rock Chardonnay Reserve. They are open 10AM-5PM every day for wine tastings and tours.
Monocan Lake is closed for the season and will re-open next summer. Visitors may still use the playground facilities, picnic and walk on the two mile trail around the lake.
The kid’s Treehouse on Wintergreen mountain is closed until Thanksgiving weekend. The Dome and Adventure Center is open with lots of kids activities for the Fall season. Keep an eye on my daily blog for updates and upcoming holiday events in the kid’s Treehouse.
The Nelson County Farmer’s Market in Nellysford will continue to be open on Saturday mornings from 8AM-Noon. Visit for some apples and pumpkins this Fall.
Saunders Brothers in Piney River is reporting that they will have both peaches and apples in September. Plus, they still have their yummy ice cream for the Fall season.
Nelson County Lodging Ideas
Dan, who owns the 2 Moose rental condo (326 Dobie), just let me know that he will continue the gas allowance on rentals. Check out that rental at www.IIMoose.com
If you are looking for a 1BR or Studio condo for rent, ask to rent these “gold rated” condos in the Wintergreen rental program (www.WintergreenResort.com): 214 Timbers, 194 Mountain Inn, 184 Mountain Inn and 186 Mountain Inn. Many people have asked about Ski Season 08/09…The official news from Wintergreen Resort is that ski season will open on December 12th. Keep reading my blog for updates as we get close to the kick-off of the season. Several weather forecasters are predicting a cold, snowy winter. We are looking forward to it!
New Web Site about Wintergreen Resort
If you are a Wintergreen Resort fan, or want to learn more about the resort, visit Kim’s new web site at www.ExperienceWintergreen.com. The web site is the next edition to the “Experience” web site series. You can also browse all of the resort property listings. The listings are updated every morning on this new site. The listings include condos, homes and building lots.
Of course, the legacy “Experience” web site continues at www.ExperienceNelsonCounty.com It is the site for information on beautiful Nelson County.

Condo Ownership in Wintergreen Resort
If you are interested in learning more about condo ownership in Wintergreen Resort, request Kim’s condo workbook. Send an email to kim@ExperienceNelsonCounty.com and request the condo workbook by email. The workbook includes a breakdown of quarterly dues by neighborhood, a list of rental management companies, estimated gross rental income from each neighborhood and a description of each condo neighborhood on Wintergreen mountain.
Annual Fall Foliage Guide
Kim’s annual Fall Foliage Guide is now posted at www.ExperienceNelsonCounty.com and www.ExperienceWintergreen.com Visit the web site and look for the Fall Foliage banner at the top of the home page. The guide covers activities and events for September and October. This year’s guide not only includes the annual calendar of scheduled events but also suggestions for adventure in Nelson County and Wintergreen Resort.
